What is a Special Education Advocate?

As a Special Education Advocate I can:

  • guide you through the special education process.

  • give advice about educational services.

  • suggest teaching methods or behavior strategies.

  • consult about assistive technology

  • suggest questions to ask in an IEP meeting

  • review a child's IEP with parents and guardians to help make the document more clear

  • attend IEP meetings as long as the school allows it

  • suggest modifications and accomodations that are appropriate for a child based on a child's IEP

  • help parents and guardians navigate the special education maze

  • assist parents with concerns and act as a liason between the school and parents 

  • Review the IEP or 504 Plan Process
